Libya's long-term investment portfolio posts $1.25bn in returns for 2025, chairman says

Libya's Long-Term Investment Portfolio generated $1.25 billion in revenue in 2025, its chairman, Abdulfattah Ghaffar, told CNN Business Arabic.

Ghaffar said the fund manages assets and investments worth approximately $13 billion, with 95 per cent allocated to financial investments and the remainder in real estate. He said the portfolio had succeeded in redeploying part of its frozen Libyan assets abroad in Germany last year, reinvesting the funds there.

The fund is now awaiting authorisation from the United Nations to redeploy further assets through HSBC and the Euroclear settlement platform, Ghaffar said, pending the necessary
